Greeting fellow Bugler and Trumpeters
As 100 Nights of Taps Gettysburg is upon us we are looking for buglers and trumpeters to participate in a few of the upcoming evening events. You are welcome to take part in any or all of the following.
Monday May 25 Memorial Day. OPENING CEREMONY
All buglers and trumpeters are welcome to play. We will play a 4-part arrangement of To The Color and God Bless America. The ceremony will conclude with Taps-either one by one or in a cascading version. This will depend on how many players we have. Everyone is Welcome!! We will rehearse the music at 6 PM sharp at the Gatehouse
Saturday June 6 D-Day (75th Anniversary)
Special tribute to the 11 Soldiers buried in the cemetery who gave their lives on the Normandy beaches 75 years ago. All buglers and trumpeters are welcome to play. We will play an arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner and God Bless America. We will rehearse the music at 6 PM sharp at the Gatehouse plus a special arrangement of Band of Brothers for large trumpet ensemble.
The ceremony will end with a rendition of Taps performed by a WWII re-enactor and then Taps by the buglers/Trumpeters.
Saturday June 13 Gettysburg Brass Band Festival
Buglers will meet at 4:30 brass festival tent near the Main Stage, 15 Seminary Ridge were the Brass Band Festival is held. Buglers will be introduced and recognized to the audience at 5:50 then we will gather at the National Cemetery to sound To The Color and other bugle calls. The ceremony will end with Taps. Buglers will then make their way to a selected location on the Battlefield and sound Taps on their own at sunset (830 sharp) We will also play Band of Brothers
Saturday July 4 Independence Day
All buglers and trumpeters are welcome to play. We will play a 4-part arrangement of To The Color and God Bless America. The ceremony will conclude with Taps-either one by one or in a cascading version. This will depend on how many players we have. Everyone is Welcome!! We will rehearse the music at 6 PM sharp at the Gatehouse
Monday September 2 CLOSING CEREMONY
All buglers and trumpeters are welcome to play. We will play a 4-part arrangement of To The Color, The Star-Spangled Banner and God Bless America. The ceremony will conclude with Taps-either one by one or in a cascading version. This will depend on how many players we have. Everyone is Welcome!! We will rehearse the music at 6 PM sharp at the Gatehouse
